Blog Face Lift

How do you like the new look? I got a message that my background would disappear from my page by Friday (ugh!) so I had to choose something new, and quick since I just saw the notification lastnight around midnight!! I'm not very happy with it yet but just don't have time to fix it right now. A dear friend and her sweet little girl are coming to visit for the weekend and I have CHORES to do! I wish I had the magical powers of Samantha from Bewitched. With the wiggle of my nose the house would be sparkling clean, dishes done, laundry folded AND put away, hair perfectly curled and I'd be wearing an outfit to die for, all in a matter of seconds (sigh...). Guess I'll just have to wait until next week to beautify my blog and post anything worth really reading about. I can't wait to get to my next post by the way. I had an AWESOME visit with some girl friends from high school this week that I haven't seen in ages. Hope you all have a great weekend!

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner!

I made a YUMMY dinner tonight thanks to this cooking queen over at http://kendallandkeith.blogspot.com/. I have never been a big fan of cooking but have been giving it a go here lately and Kendall has been a great inspiration to me. She loves to cook and makes it look so easy and fun. I have made several of her dishes and she has never disappointed. This dish was super easy to make and is definitely going to be a regular in my kitchen. You can find the recipe along with lots of other home cooked goodness on Kendall's blog. Maybe she'll inspire you to get in the kitchen too!
Parmesan Chicken Bundles

I served this with asparagus (canned...I know, I know...fresh would've been better) topped with shredded cheese.

I even made a dessert! We had Martha Stewart's Banana Bread topped with an Orange Glaze...YUMMMM! I've tried several banana bread recipes over the years and this is my all time fave. The sour cream makes it SUPER moist. Absolutely divine!

Martha Stewart Banana Bread

Ingredients:

1/2 C butter

1 C sugar

2 large eggs

1 1/2 C flour

1 tsp baking soda

1 tsp salt

1 C ripe bananas, mashed

1/2 C sour cream

1 tsp vanilla

1/2 C chopped walnuts or pecans

Orange Glaze Ingredients (Courtesy of Kendall)

1 C confectioner's sugar

3 tbsp orange juice

1 tsp grated orange peel

Mix all ingredients, fold in pecans or walnuts, transfer to greased loaf pan. Bake at 350*F for approximately an hour. Create the orange glaze by whisking above ingredients and pour it over freshly baked bread. I could eat the entire loaf myself and just might! I AM eating for two, ya know.

Precious, Pretty, and Lots of Pink

I finally finished the last of my projects for Caroline's nursery this week and I just LOVE how everything turned out. I made 4 of the sweetest little balloon shades.....

and an adorable bow holder.

Every little girl needs a place to keep all her pretty bows, right?

Then I made this sweet pillow for the chair I ordered for her room. The chair hasn't come in yet (sigh...) but I think this pillow goes perfectly with the rest of the decor and will look so cute in her new chair. I can't wait until it arrives! It will be the finishing touch.
And lastly, I finally completed the mobile I started weeks ago but never got around to finishing. You may remember that I posted pics of it in an earlier post. I ran out of supplies and couldn't find the same berry garland anywhere. Thank you Michael's for coming to the rescue!
Pretty pink and green berries, delicate and sweet butterflies. Now all I need is my darling little baby to arrive so we can start enjoying her room together. I'll post a few pics of the finished room once the chair arrives.
Thirty Weeks and Counting...

Happy Fourth, Happy Feet!

I hope everyone enjoyed their Fourth of July. We went to church, ran some errands, took a little nap and then spent the evening hanging with our neighbors and eating some yummy fajitas. We were able to watch the firework festivities going on at the Kemah Boardwalk right from our drive way with out having to fight the crowds or traffic. It was a perfect day indeed.
God bless this great country we live in!!
Finding these beauties was one of the BEST parts of my day! Now that I'm starting to swell ALL OVER, especially in my legs and feet, I've been on the hunt for some comfortable shoes. Well, today I found them! If you haven't tried on a pair of Sanuk sandalls then you are missing out! They are made from the same material as yoga mats...a little slice of heaven for your footsies. I've always been a big fan of Reef sandalls but these lovelies have stolen my heart. Try them! Trust me...your feet will thank you.
